Around the World on Global Exhibitions Day

It's a bit weird isn't it, holding a non physical event, for the events industry? I mean, no show doors to open. No badge stock to be delivered. No booths to be built. No speaker to chase. No security to set up. Yet we all are getting together digitally to share the love for Global Exhibitions Day 2017 or #GED17 Awesome!

This post comes a day after #GED17 mainly because I kind of wanted to see what would happen on the day. Last year there were wonderful global pictures and lots of hashtag sharing. This year I wanted to see how it would be different and what change we could affect.

This year, everyone seemed to up their game, competing for the global limelight, but ultimately sharing even more about our wonderful industry. Trending on Twitter, hopefully helped brought attention to our incredible industry.

Hitex Exhibition Centre in India literally spelt it out with their team.

Guadalajara had a pretty big team together for a picture.

Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry held a friendly football tournament with Different verdigris, Asia world expo, UBM, Pico et all.

A pretty loud celebration from Mumbai!

A serious badge collection from Stephanie Salesnick!

A literal #GED17 Globe from our friends at Amsterdam Rai.

And finally, on my little summary of cool sharing I've seen, I end with my colleagues from N200|GES, Cameron and Ali taking #GED17 to new heights at the Burj Kalifa in Dubai.

What a great sharing of industry love from all of the different types of people in our industry to show off what they do and the diversity that our sector brings. It's a great chance to show the world what we do, from the carpet fitter and stand builder to the senior teams setting strategy. It's a great coming together of everyone in our sector showing the world, we are global, we are important and we are many!

Exhibitions are often at the centre of the industries they serve. They can be critical to industry success. They host international leaders. They release the latest content. They show the latest innovations. They are an incredible bringing together of world economies.

So it's great to see, from over 70 countries, venues, suppliers, organisers, leaders and ground crew all getting together to celebrate what an awesome industry we work in and what great things we achieve.

We hope you all had a great #GED17
