EVENT SOLUTIONS THAT HELP GENERATE £46BILLION OF SALES AT FIA 2012

Since 1948, people have flocked to the Farnborough International Airshow to be amazed by the latest innovations in aviation. And while the world may have changed a lot since those early days, the premise of FIA has stayed the same: bring together the biggest names in aviation for a week long aerospace spectacular to wow business and public visitors alike.

BACKGROUND

FIA is the world’s largest temporary exhibition and the 2012 edition was set to be the best one yet. Featuring over 1,500 exhibiting companies from across the global aerospace industry, FIA needed an event partner who could not only service every aspect of the event - which takes place across the entire 5km2 site at Farnborough airfield - but help their event drive revenue and reaffirm their position as a key trading platform for the industry in a recession hit global economy.

THE SOLUTION

The mainstay of all events which feature exhibiting companies are shell scheme stands, and FIA was no different. In fact, FIA boasted a massive 2,200m2 of floor space which was dedicated to shell scheme exhibitors. To make sure each exhibitor was well looked after and to take the stress out of exhibiting, we supplied them all with a shell scheme and electrical package which gave them the foundations of a great presentation space.

To further enhance the look and feel of the event, we covered all 40,000m2 of the exhibition hall floors with carpeting that not only complemented the space, but could be fully recycled after the event as well. We also supplied graphics signage for the entire site, helping to guide visitors and exhibitors alike around the 5km2 venue as efficiently and safely as possible.

But the main attractions for any tradeshow visitor are the grand space only exhibits (well, after the flying ones outside). During the wettest June and July on record, we successfully constructed 26 custom build stands indoors, in addition to 12 outdoor business chalets and 3 outdoor pavilions for some of the biggest names in the industry.

THE RESULTS

  • We delivered all appointed services on time and within budget.
  • Helped the organiser drive £46billion worth of exhibitor deals at the event, in spite of the economic climate.
  • “It never rains, but it pours”. The June and July of 2012 were the wettest on record, which conveniently coincided with the final stages of the build-up time for FIA. But the show must go on and our team loves a challenge. They delivered all services to the event – including navigating 11 trailer loads full of furniture around flood hit areas into the Hampshire countryside - while the rest of the country was in chaos.
