MODEX is North America’s largest biennial trade show and conference for the material handling, manufacturing, and supply chain industries. For MODEX 2026, the client wanted to create two distinct destinations on the show floor where attendees could relax, connect, and spend more time at the event without feeling like they were still in a traditional exhibit hall. Inspired by Atlanta’s Southern hospitality, The Backyard and Peachtree Social transformed portions of the show floor into engaging, sponsor-supported experiences that encouraged networking, entertainment, and community.
MODEX wanted to provide attendees with inviting environments where they could take a break, network, and enjoy food and beverage offerings without leaving the show floor. Each space needed to feel removed from the surrounding trade show environment while supporting sponsorship opportunities and attendee engagement.
The project also presented logistical challenges. Peachtree Social was positioned directly in front of major freight doors, making it the last area that could be constructed during move-in.
GES partnered with MODEX to create two unique attendee destinations focused on connection, relaxation, and engagement. The Backyard transformed 8,800 square feet into an outdoor-inspired retreat featuring turf flooring, food and beverage vendors, a large video wall, puppy petting experiences, comfortable seating, and integrated sponsorship opportunities. Trees, rustic picnic tables, and string lighting helped create an atmosphere that felt separate from the surrounding show floor.
Peachtree Social offered a lively indoor lounge complete with food and beverage service, a hosted happy hour, golf simulator, Pop-A-Shot basketball game, silent auction, seating areas, and live greenery. Despite being the last area that could be built during move-in, careful planning kept the project on schedule. Atlanta-inspired details and thoughtful branding helped turn the space into a memorable attendee destination.
Both attendee experiences quickly became popular gathering places throughout the event, especially during peak lunch hours and networking activities. The sponsored environments successfully increased attendee engagement while delivering valuable visibility for event partners.
The Backyard and Peachtree Social provided attendees with welcoming spaces to relax, recharge, and connect without leaving the show floor. Positive feedback from attendees, sponsors, and event organizers reinforced the success of both concepts, demonstrating how thoughtfully designed experiences can enhance engagement, strengthen sponsorship value, and create meaningful moments beyond the booth.
