Celebrating 35 Years With GES

I celebrated 35 years as part of GES and this fantastic industry this past June. How lucky am I? The journey has undoubtedly seen many highs and a few lows, but I wouldn’t trade the experiences I have been part of, the clients I have worked with, or the industry friends I have made for anything. I have traveled across North America, working with so many types of clients, GES team members, and valuable stakeholders to take something from nothing and create MAGIC! It never gets old - seeing a show open, watching excited attendees make their way to the exhibition floor, moving the last crate out of the venue. Each day brings new opportunities and challenges, which I genuinely enjoy. It’s been a great run, and I feel blessed to say I still LOVE my job, I love GES and this industry.

Before sharing some of the highlights from our newsletter, I wanted to thank my GES colleagues, who have supported, mentored and challenged me over the years. It is often said that this company is successful because of the people who go above and beyond daily to deliver exceptional experiences. Our teams are the best of the best. And to the wonderful clients, I have worked with, many of whom are also now friends, thanks to all of you for how rewarding you have made this journey. I look forward to what the future holds.

Finally, to my family, my wife Margaret, whom I met at St. Vincent DePaul 29 years ago and who has been my rock and the core of our family, I could not have experienced the success I have had without your support, love, and encouragement. You have always been my biggest fan, and I can't thank you enough. To Maddie (24) and Grace (21),  my incredible daughters, thanks for your patience, understanding, and love. The career I chose is not the ordinary 9 to 5 job, and although I worked my schedule to be part of your activities and milestone events, I know it was not always easy. One good outcome of Covid is that today, more people in our industry are making great efforts and focusing on a better family/work-life balance. May that ALWAYS be our goal today, tomorrow, and each day after.

As I reflect on my career, I am proud to be part of the exhibitions and events industry. It has evolved into a vital and thriving sector and provided me with never-ending happiness. My wish to each of you, regardless of where you are in your career journey, is that you, too, continue to love what you do, your company, and your team. I hope you will constantly be challenged with new opportunities and create unforgettable memories.

Within the newsletter are some wonderful articles that highlight our talented team members and our commitment to giving back to our communities. We also feature photos from recent shows that GES was fortunate to partner with. If you have any questions about our team, products, or services, please reach out to me.

Be Safe and Stay Positive!
