GES shares data insights with industry at Event Sustainability Live

GES’ Head of ESG, Kate Holliday, will be taking to the stage at this month’s Event Sustainability Live to share insights into how the firm uses data to make decisions that benefit both the business and its surroundings. The main stage session, which is scheduled to take place at noon on 21st November is entitled Crunching the Data: How and What to do with Data to Make the Best Decisions for Your Business.

Kate will be joined on stage by the SEC’s Environment and Waste Manager, Jennifer Ennis and the discussion will be chaired by Chrissie Beck, Events & Experiential Sustainability Consultant at Worlds Better

Kate said: “We have invested resources in ensuring not only the quality of the data itself but also our understanding of the results. I’m looking forward to sharing some tangible examples of decisions our business has made based on the advances in our sustainability data.”

The session follows the launch of GES’ recent ESG Progress Report, which allowed the team to assess their achievements to date as well as the direction and ambitions for their ESG programme. It looked at the importance of relevant, accurate data and used event flooring as a clear case study, showing that by collecting product specific emissions data for event flooring, manufacturing emissions were up to 44% less than previously calculated using standard DEFRA material emissions factors. This has resulted in the team no longer needing to rely on the DEFRA emission factors and - by having accurate calculations - start reporting more accurately and in turn truly understand the industry’s exact impact.

Event Sustainability Live takes place between 20-21st November at ExCeL London bringing together event professionals from across the globe who are passionate about event sustainability and allowing them to share ideas and create new and exciting partnerships.
